» When should I schedule my arrival and departure?
» Your Nosara Yoga teacher training program begins at 7:30pm the first day of the training (with an optional 5:00pm Orientation), so plan your flight arrival for no later than the Sunday when your training is scheduled to begin. Our Shuttle Service will be waiting for you at Arrivals.
Flying in and out of Liberia Airport (Code LIR)
Our Shuttle Service will be waiting for you upon your arrival. For departures, Airport shuttles leave Nosara on Saturday morning as early as 5:00 AM to get you to Liberia Airport by 8:00 AM. Airlines require that you to check in 2 hours prior to your departure, so please allow time for this by scheduling your return flight for any time after 11:00am on the last day.
San Jose airport is farther away from Nosara, requiring a 6-hour drive through beautiful countryside. Depending on your flight, you may need stay in a hotel overnight at your expense upon your arrival and departure. As an alternative, San Jose entry offers commuter flight options to Nosara Airport, which is only 20 minutes from the Institute. It is also a beautiful way to travel to Nosara: the views from the plane are breathtaking. This will be an extra expense on your part but, of course, much faster. Check with Sansa http://www.flysansa.com and Nature Air http://www.natureair.com for their flight schedule and fees. If you fly into Nosara, we will also have a shuttle there to pick you up at no extra cost.

» Do I need to bring an electricity converter?
All outlets are 110v, the same as in North America. Otherwise, you may need to bring an adapter plug.
» What do I need to bring?
Bring a passport (your passport must not be due to expire sooner than 6 months from entry date into Costa Rica), toiletries, flashlight, beach attire, swimsuit, pool goggles (optional), sunscreen, insect repellant, yoga wear, walking shoes, sandals, alarm clock, notebook, pen and backpack. All beach and travel wear is casual. If you are registering for Pranassage, long, lightweight pants are required. If you are coming during our Green Season, June – November, bring a small umbrella or purchase one when you arrive.
» Will I need to bring cash?
You will need cash in U.S. dollars, or Traveler's checks. Smaller denominations of $20 or less are easiest to cash. Your change will usually be made in Costa Rican Colones. There is a bank in Nosara with an ATM machine. The bank and the ATM provide cash advances on Visa credit cards only. You must remember to bring your passport/ID along with you in order to make any bank transactions. You do not need to exchange dollars to colones, as dollars are accepted everywhere. The current exchange rate is about 504.00 colones to $1. So $10 is about 5,040 colones.
» What is the weather like?
The winter season, December-April, is warm and dry with clear blue skies, and average temperatures ranging from 80-90 degrees Fahrenheit (or 25 to 35 degrees Celsius.) June -November is our Green Season. The mornings from June through September are usually clear and sunny with light rains beginning in the late afternoon. October is the peak of the rainy season, when rains can last all day. Nice weather for reading a book, but not so great for Yoga programs. November is another beautiful month. By mid-November the rains have calmed down, everything is green and happy and somewhat cooler. Bring lightweight clothing, easy to wash and dry. If you arrive in San Jose long pants and a sweater may be needed, as it is high in the mountains.
» Is Internet access available?
Yes, free wi-fi access is available in your accommodations.
» How do I call home?
Free Wi-fi is available, so Skype and email may be the most economical way to stay in touch with back home. If you wish to bring your cellphone, the most convenient way to make international calls is by purchasing Costa Rican calling cards, which can be purchased at most supermarkets and hotels in the area. You can also check with your cellphone carrier to see if it offers roaming in Costa Rica; however, this can be an expensive option. Please note that during all training sessions, cellphones need to be turned off and there is no texting.
» Do I need to take shots for coming to Costa Rica?
No shots are required.
» What is the daily schedule?

» How is the water for swimming?
This is a great beach for swimming, boogie boarding, surfing, or just learning to surf. There are always waves to play in. In addition, there are fantastic tidal pools that are great for swimming and snorkeling at low tide. The beach is part of the Ostional Wildlife Reserve that protects its natural beauty. Hotels, restaurants and private residences cannot be built directly on the beach. You will be able to walk for miles collecting seashells. Water safety guidelines are given during orientation.
