» Why is the meal plan just for 2 meals a day, and for only 5 days a week?
Our students find that the quality and quantity of excellent food on the 2-meal-a-day plan is more than adequate. With many fine restaurants in the area everyone enjoys the freedom to explore other options over weekends. You are always at liberty to purchase additional meals as your own dietary requirements may vary.

» How do I get to Nosara?
- Arrange your travel to Costa Rica:
We suggest you book your international entry the day before the training begins and your departure the day after the training ends. Your international destination can either be San Jose or Liberia, Costa Rica. The Liberia Airport is much closer to Nosara, but requires a private cab to get to Nosara.
- Arrange your travel from the International Airport to Nosara
Getting to Nosara from the Liberia Airport:
Fly Nature Air: www.natureair.com 1 flight per day. Cost about $70.00
Taxi: www.nosaratravel.com to reserve a taxi. Drive is about 2.5 hours. Cost $145 up to 6 people.
Drive: (for the adventurous at heart) there are several car rental options in Liberia. You must reserve in advance. National Car Rental is recommended.
Getting to Nosara from San Jose:
Public Bus: The Institute is a 6 hour bus ride from San Jose. The bus departs daily at 5:30 a.m. sharp from the Alfaro Bus Terminal in Central San Jose. » What do I need to bring?
Bring a passport (your passport must not be due to expire sooner than 6 months from entry date into Costa Rica), toiletries, flashlight, beach attire, sunscreen, insect repellant, yoga wear, walking shoes, sandals, alarm clock, notebook, pen, yoga mat and backpack. All beach and travel wear is casual. If you are registering for Pranassage, long, lightweight pants are required. If you are coming during our Green Season, June – November bring a small umbrella or purchase one when you arrive.
» Will I need to bring cash?
You will need cash in U.S. dollars, or Traveler’s checks. Smaller denominations of $20 or less are easiest to cash. Your change will usually be made in Costa Rican Colones. There is a bank in Nosara with an ATM machine. The bank and the ATM provide cash advances on Visa credit cards only. You must remember to bring your passport/ID along with you in order to make any bank transactions. You do not need to exchange dollars to colones, as dollars are accepted everywhere. The current exchange rate is about 500.00 colones to $1. So $10 is about 5,000 colones.
» Can I depart earlier?
The graduation ceremony is scheduled the evening before the last day of every program. The last day of your program is a morning yoga practice from 6:30 - 8:30am. Please let us know in advance if you cannot attend this last morning session.
» What is the weather like?
The winter season, December-April, is warm and dry with clear blue skies, and average temperatures ranging from 80-90 degrees Fahrenheit (or 25 to 35 degrees Celsius.) June -November is our Green Season. The mornings from June through September are usually clear and sunny with light rains beginning in the late afternoon. October is the peak of the rainy season, when rains can last all day. Nice weather for reading a book, but not so great for Yoga programs. November is another beautiful month. By mid-November the rains have calmed down, everything is green and happy and somewhat cooler. Bring lightweight clothing, easy to wash and dry. If you arrive in San Jose long pants and a sweater may be needed, as it is high in the mountains.
» Are there laundry facilities?
There is a laundry close to the Hotel Café De Paris. They will wash, dry, and fold your laundry for a fee of $13.00. Your most economical option is to do your own laundry.
» How do I call home?
The most convenient way to make international calls is by purchasing the Costa Rican calling cards. These cards are very economical and competitive with cards you may purchase at home before your trip. They can be purchased at most of the supermarkets and hotels in the area.

» How is the water for swimming?
This is a great beach for swimming, boogie boarding, surfing, or just learning to surf. There are always waves to play in. In addition, there are fantastic tidal pools that are great for swimming and snorkeling at low tide. The beach is part of the Ostional Wildlife Reserve that protects its natural beauty. Hotels, restaurants and private residences cannot be built directly on the beach. You will be able to walk for miles collecting seashells.
