Essential Nature Restorative Yoga can ease our minds and hearts into being more present, open and relaxed. It is a powerful stress management technique and a pathway to healing and self-discovery. As a complement to more vigorous practices of asana and pranayama, Restorative Yoga can address complex health issues such as poor digestion, depression, immune dysfunction, reproductive problems and chronic fatigue. This practice is an essential part of any yoga teacher's training and self-development. Learn how to help students of all ages find an inner state of relaxation
Experience what space in the mind, heart and body does! This in-depth exploration of Classical Restorative Yoga and Restorative Yogaflows * includes
Active Restorative poses- postures that use props for support to facilitate the shift into deep relaxation, and include the sensation of stretching the physical body.
Passive Restorative poses- postures that use props for support to facilitate a direct connection to the nervous system, and do not involve the physical dynamics of stretching.
Essential Nature Restorative YogaFlows®- A creative combination of active asanas, yin stretches, and active and passive restorative poses taught as a continuous flow. These sequences provide a template for teachers to facilitate and weave a fluid and organic experience of each individual's Essential Nature. Special themes include the elements, organs, meridians and chakras.
Comparative study of Active and Passive Restorative practices, Yoga Nidra, and Yin Yoga.Anatomy of Body Systems- including the Nervous, Respiratory, Circulatory, Endocrine, and Immune systems, with an emphasis on understanding the physiology of relaxation
Restorative Yoga for Health and Healing- tools to work with clients with special needs, including stress-related disorders, cancer, and recovery, as well as information to clearly communicate the efficacy and importance of Restorative Yoga for every body
Using a series of foundational poses as our template, and combining this study with hands-on experience, students will learn the intricacies of both Active and Passive Restorative poses, how to teach them, and how to sequence them to create a complete practice, including inversions, backbends, sidebends, twists, along with several variations of Savasana.
The study and practice of Savasana—the ultimate Classical Restorative pose—serves as the bridge to understand and experience all other Restoratives. From this starting point, we will move into more complex Passive poses, incorporating the creative use of props such as blankets, blocks, and a wall to create an ethereal experience where the body can be fully "irrigated" with Prana. This bridge between the physical and energetic spheres brings us to a portal where we can access the embodied Divine—which is our Essential Nature.
